Design Project 1:  ‘Analogous’ Component Types

 
Using tracing paper over a grid, students are to experiment with the multiple possibilities of repeated shape components in the formation of letterforms and ultimately a complete alphabet (plus other contextually appropriate alternative characters).
 
Again test your design ideas by configuration of simple contextually appropriate headlines, titles or phrases.

Using the digital templates, grids and fills provided students are to develop these letterforms into a basic font proposal specimen as an outcome. Students may propose or create alternative fill or type ornament sourced or an original specimen.
 
(Relevant creative and digital processes: contemporary digital culture freehand tools/equipment, experimentation, Illustrator pen tool, drawing with vectors, anchor points, cut and paste, outlines, fills, pathfinder…)
